Personal Critique
This year's cut off was 79.94/100 and the wait list cut off was 79.94 to 76.78. Ha, I am disappointed that I was off by 0.09% from wait list but those couple of 40%'s really puts on the shame. Nonetheless, it's clear that I need to work on my animation and storyboard section. I should have researched more about Sheridan's look-fors in animation in general and spend more time on those sections since they are weighted more than the others. Which leads to how I spent too much time on my life drawing and personal pieces. So remember to distribute your effort and time evenly!

Info about portfolio and advice
For the layout of my portfolio:
My life drawing were resized and digitally laid on prints while the originals were set aside in my portfolio bag (they were on newsprint 18 x 20" pages and my bag is the same size). I slipped the rest of the requirements which were all on 8.5 x 11" printer paper in the 11 x 17" portfolio book.
I formatted my personal portfolio section into 11 x 17" sized pages. Since I was applying to Sheridan's illustration program as well, I had to make use of a efficient way to switch my portfolios with one portfolio book. Additionally, I like the way a digitally designed layout looks and didn't have to panic about wrongly placed credit notes. I would suggest this method if you have the option to print your portfolio book's size and anxious about layout and presentation. I also included title cards:

It wasn't necessary and a bit extra but hey, looked nice ha!

Next step?

Since I was accepted into Sheridan's illustration program, I'll be going there for my first year out of secondary school. Originally, before I applied to both programs, I was stuck between both fields of study; I enjoyed illustration and my art style definitely leans towards it but I had had interest in animation and storytelling-methods. I do plan on applying again in 2018 but if I enjoy illustration, I'll stick with that program regardless of acceptance or not.

  1. wow, I'm a little lost for words. You were so close, I really like your portfolio actually, too bad you didn't get in. Anyways I was looking at different portfolio's myself doing research on what Sheridan is looking for and stumbled on yours, I'll be taking Art Fundies in Jan 2018. Don't give up, I think you should apply again because clearly your talented.
